International Problems: Handed out requirements for the powerpoint presentation. Gave students time to work on project. Homework: Have storyboard completed by Thursday!
HS Language Arts: Students filled out their checklist. Met with students individually to determine completion of projects. Homework: Have project completed by Thursday…the WHOLE thing!!
HS World History: Entry task was a quick quiz on Sections 1-5. Powerpoint on the Columbian Exchange…please email me if you are absent for it. Homework: Verify that the packet is completed and ready to be turned in on Monday…remember that self-quizzes are part of that requirement as well!!
MS Language Arts: Students had an entry task on the book “Good Night Mr. Tom” and then went through the choices for their critical thinking questions. Students were given time to work on them. Homework: Parents need to grade their student’s final draft of the critical thinking. The paper needs to be typed up and complete by the rubric’s standards.
MS World History: Students will be looking at the geographic regions of their country. Homework: Study the countries of Central, South America and the Caribbean.

Service Project #2
Dear parents,
Here at HomeLink we have a very exciting opportunity to help out the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter this month. The Leadership Class along with Haley and Cami Softich is collecting donations to help provide some Holiday Cheer to these animals who are awaiting homes!
We have a need for a few parent volunteers to work three activities:
1. A donut sale for Monday, December 7th. I will be bringing in the donuts but need a parent to collect money from say 8am-9am in the cafeteria.
2. A pizza sale for Thursday, December 10th. We will be having Pizza Pipeline pizza and the kids can buy by the slice. I need parents to help serve and collect from 10:20 to 11am.
The other volunteers would be possibly before school to hand out tickets to those that bring in items. I have 32 Tri-City American tickets donated and for each item brought in the student receives a ticket into a drawing for FOUR tickets to a Hockey Game in January. The drawing for these tickets will be at our Student Assembly on December 17th. That will be the last day to donate as well.
Items that can be donated are:

Cat liter
Cat boxes (all sizes & styles)
Canned food for all ages of dogs & cats

Our yearly Christmas project is in the early planning stages – will you help us with your donation of gifts, time, or cash?
Each year, the Fireside Room is transformed into “Christmas Gift Central” for the students of our neighboring school, River’s Edge Alternative School. We provide gifts for the 209 students (free of charge) to select for their immediate families to open during their family Christmas celebrations. International Problems: Cover the Universal Healthcare interviews that students were to have completed over the holiday. We will also be starting a presentation that they will be doing to compare the United States with another country’s health care. HOMEWORK: begin work on your presentation
HS Language Arts: I will be checking to make sure that they are on board with their book projects. I will be looking specifically at their “Critical Thinking” part of their presentation. Parents please be looking at their projects and helping them as needed. HOMEWORK: Follow your project calendar
HS World History: We have started the New France section and will be looking at the specifics of why Europeans came to America. HOMEWORK: Follow the classroom calendar
Middle School Language Arts: Jabberwocky…what is it and how does it fit into Good Night Mr. Tom? (This is found in the student's packet) We will also talk about words that are comparable but different in both American English and the Queen’s English. HOMEWORK: Follow the classroom calendar
Middle School World History: How did the Spaniards change life in South America when they came to conquer? We will be looking specifically at the language, religion and the customs that the Spaniards brought with them and established. HOMEWORK: Outline the specifics on the history of your country

Thanksgiving Week
International Problems: Be sure to reread your country's comparison to the US Universal Health Care. Be ready to turn in your interview with an adult who has Health Care and is willing to be interviewed about it.
HSLA: Students should be paying very closely to the calendar and make sure they are working on their plot, setting and character development projects. Their Critical Thinking piece needs to be well thought out and organized by Monday, November 30th.
HS World History: Students were checked on their Sections one and two of Chapter 15. Several did not have it complete and will receive a zero. Parents please double check to make sure your student is working every day on this packet of work!!
MS LA: Students were shown actual WW2 uniforms and pins today. Thanks Mr. Schulz!! Also we went to the library and looked at bomb shelters at www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2children/research/research_intro.shtml

The only Davis Dispatches that you should see will be International Problems, MS World History and Cooking.
The next few weeks up until Christmas Break the classes of HS and MS Language Arts have a calendar they should be following.
The high schoolers are reading in a BOOK CLUB form and are creating projects to show that they have a command of vocabulary, setting, character development and plot. Finally they are to create a "Critical Thinking" piece to show me that they ahve a true grasp of the bigger picture in the book.
The Middle Schoolers are reading "Good Night Mr.Tom" and have a packet of work for you to go through with them on Tuesday and Wednesday. We will be having hands on activities on Monday and Thursday.
Also High School World History has also their work for the next 6 weeks as well.
I AM HOPING THAT BY GIVING THEM THE WORK NOW THAT ALL WORK WILL BE DONE ON TIME AND THERE WILL BE NO LATE WORK!! IT IS DUE ON OR AROUND THE END OF DECEMBER...PLEASE CHECK CALENDERS!!

Due to the end of the quarter coming up on Thursday and the overwhelming amount of work I need to sift through, grade and record; the ONLY classes that has "homework" are International Problems and High School World History. The other classes should continue to work on their projects so that they will get the maximum points on Thursday.
High School International Problems
Monday: Israel and the US
Tuesday and Wednesday’s Homework: Make a 16 question test (with answers) 5 Multiple Choice, 5 matching, 5 fill in the blanks and 1 short answer on the material we have covered in class. Print out TWO copies, one with the answers- one without.
Thursday: In class quiz on the Middle East.
High School World History:
Monday: European contact with Asia
Tuesday Homework: Do Connections to Today on page 467 #2
Wednesday's Homework: Do Chapter Assessment on page 468
