Week of May 4th

Activities this week: Mrs. Wise’s classes will be gone to Kadlec Thursday afternoon and Mrs. Davis will be gone on Friday for a workshop at the ESD.

High School Language Arts

Tuesday and Wednesday Homework **As always 30 minutes reading a night…4th quarter you will have a weekly reading reflection assignment due on a weekly basis!**

Tuesday and Wednesday’s homework: Read “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” pages 1044-1071; Use “Strategies for Reading Shakespearean Tragedy” page 988 and “Reader’s Notebook” page 989 as you read the passage. *You will turn these two strategies in with your homework. Answer Questions on the two worksheets given.

World Geography Homework: Complete assigned work on APEX.

Continue to work on your Country’s Research project!!

Middle School United States History

Homework Tuesday: Read Chapter 9 of “The Jungle” with your parents (you may need some help getting through this!):

List the reasons that immigrants would work in the meat packing industry as well as the problems that they would encounter working there.

Homework Wednesday: Research Upton Sinclair and the Muckrackers…what issues exist today that would demand Muckracker-type investigations to be brought back.

Homework: Students will need to read a minimum of 30 minutes a night and complete their weekly reading assignment.

Tuesday and Wednesday’s Homework: Read “El Chino” by Allen Say and answer the questions on page 229 AS WELL as the Vocabulary on page 219.

Read also “Let the Chips Fall” by Susan Pilar de la Hoz on page 230. Answer questions on page 233 and Connect to your life on page 230.
