High School International Problems: NEWS NOTES EVERY DAY!!
Monday: Middle East…what’s the big deal? Powerpoint presentation
Tuesday’s Homework: Middle East map and reading questions
Wednesday’s Homework: “Historical importance of oil” article and reflection
Thursday: News Quiz – Discussion on the Middle East

Week of 10/12-10/15: Select a country in the Middle East and research it’s interdependence with the United States. You should include trade, history, aid, governmental actions. This should be representative of a week’s worth of work. Feel free to do a powerpoint or essay.
*Focus News Notes on the Middle East for this week just so you can get a feel of the many events that occur!!

High School Language Arts: **READ 20 MINUTES A DAY/VOCABULARY-SUMMARY
Monday: Final essays due today…in class reading assignment
**Define and write one sentence for each of your vocabulary words for this week: 1. Vehement 2. Auspicious, 3epiphany 4. Facetious, 5. Omnipotent, 6. Paradigm, 7. Reciprocal, 8. Filibuster, 9. Impeach 10. Laissez faire, bonus: totalitarian
Tuesday: Read “The Panther: A Bedtime Story“ and answer the questions: First Response, Talking it over 1-5, and Oral Tradition 1-3
Wednesday: Using the universal editing symbols; edit the handout given out in class.
Thursday: Spelling test!

Week of 10/12-10/15: Using a movie that has been made from a book that you have read (doesn’t have to be the same one you gave me) write a compare/contrast reflection on the two pieces. *I am figuring that watching the movie will take about 2 hours and then your reflection should take about that as well.

High School World History:
Monday: Continue Scientific Reformation: quick video on Galileo
Tuesday Homework: Reread pages 434-439 Answer questions 3-6 on page 438 and questions 1-2 on page 439
Wednesday's Homework: “Does the Earth Move?” worksheet
Thursday: In class quiz on Chapter 13 *See page 442 for questions!!** I have told the students that if they do the quiz they can bring that in for "notes" for the quiz! They can use those but no classroom notes!


Week of 10/12-10/15 : Read pages 446-451; go to PHSchool.com and enter nap-1411 for your webcode and go on the Audio tour; answer the following in paragraph form: 1. What were the Europeans’ motivations for exploring the seas 2. Analyze the Portuguese and Spanish exploration 3. Describe European searches for a direct route to Asia 4. Define the Terms, People, and Places on page 446

High School Leadership:
Monday: Leadership around HomeLink: school shirts and Community plan due today!
Tuesday-Friday: Work on Community Service Plan

Week of 10/12-10/15 Do activity regarding Chapter 4 of “Seven Habits”…bring to class examples of win/win, win/lose, and lose/lose situations.

High School Cooking
Thursday: In the classroom…Iron Chef

Week of 10/12-10/15
Cook at one breakfast, one lunch and one dinner and write up the menu, preparation and your family’s reaction. 1 page.


Middle School Language Arts: READ 20 MINUTES EVERY DAY/ Prediction
Monday: In class: Peer Editing exercise
**Define and write one sentence for each of your vocabulary words for this week: stoop, petition, hardware, wreaking, tomatoes, hardware, sour grapes, neighbor, excitement, grocery Bonus beautiful and summertime
Tuesday: Read “City Green“ by DyAnne DiSalvo-Ryan and answer the questions included at the end of the story.
Wednesday : “My Name” handout
Thursday: Weekly spelling test!

Week of 10/12-10/15: Complete packet of work

Middle School World History:
Monday: Middle East geography exercise-mapping it out! Students may have items to finish at home if they did not finish in class!
Tuesday: Read pages 44-49 and do the key terms, questions 1-3 both (a) and (b) for each question **Parent and Students: The Davis Dispatch says to read pages 44-49 but since you only have pages 35-41 please do the questions on page 41 and I will make sure you have the readings for pages 44-48 on Thursday! Sorry for any mix ups!!

Wednesday: Do activity lcd-6203 at PHSchool.com (you may need assistance with your parents to understand the article). Explain your reasoning in paragraph form to answer Question #2
Thursday: Key points in the Middle East!

Week of 10/12-10/15: Complete packet of work in regards to “The Geography of Water”, “World Oil Reserves”, “Imbalance of Energy Consumption” and “Controversy in China”

Middle School Cooking:
Thursday: In the kitchen…breakfast for dinner!!

Week of 10/12-10/15: Cook at least one meal with the help of an adult and write up the menu, preparation and your family’s reaction. 1 page.
